Hatton W. Sumners Papers

This collection contains the personal, political, legislative, general papers and speeches of Hatton W. Sumners, Congressman from Texas from 1912-1946, head of the judiciary committee 1931-1946. Includes newspaper clippings, postcards, letters, etc. received by him over the course of his life. Bills, laws, and supreme court cases Sumners advocated for and against are also included in the collection, and correspondence sent and received by Sumners relating to World War I and World War II. Post-congressional papers, 1947-1962, are also included in the collection. Scrapbooks of newspaper, in addition to photographs, and rough drafts of books Sumners wrote are also present in the collection.
