Abstract:
Franklin Chase was a U.S. consul in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and a merchant in partnership with his wife, Ann McClarmonde Chase. Ann Chase became known as the “Heroine of Tampico” for her activities during the U.S.-Mexico War. Papers are comprised of manuscripts, journals, correspondence, news clippings, and poems.
