Kent Cigarettes-
It was a demonstration.
Two glasses were turned upside down on white paper. Kent smoke was blown into one of them and BrandX was blown into the other.
The glasses were lifted and there was a big brown circle under the BrandX glass. Ken't, of course, was clean and white.

The girl who fell in the well was probably Cathy Fiscus. They tried to rescue her for several days but were unable to.
It was the first continuous TV coverage incident ever. It was sometime in the late 1940s.
We all rememebr Baby Jessica. That rescue was more successful, thank goodness.
That was sometime in the 1980s.

I remember the Jones Blair song- although I hadn't thought of it in 50 years.
7-11 jingle- From a 7 to 11...from a 7 to 11...we've got soup and nuts, that's why we sing, 7-11's got everything.
It seems like there were a couple of ducks or chickens singing it. That goes back to the early '50s.

I heard those soap operas around 1949-1952. My mother listened to them while she did housework.
A couple more I remember- Lorenzo Jones, Just Plain Bill and Our Gal Sunday.
My grandpa and I listened to The Lone Ranger, Gangbusters and Mr. District Attorney at night.
He liked Lum and Abner. I think thay came on Sunday afternoon.
BTW- Ma Perkins was sponsored by Oxydol. Don't ask me how

Cornbread Matinee was a local afternoon hillbilly show hosted by Johnny Hicks.
Gangbusters
Mr District Attorney
Lone Ranger
Ma Perkins
Stella Dallas
Portia Faces Life
Lum and Abner

Letta's Cafe in Fort Worth was ran by an old 80 year old woman. She had a big lunch crowd and she ruled with an iron hand.
If somebody ordered a hamburger with complicated instructions like cut the tomato and onion and both mustard and mayonaise she was likely to run them off.
I'm sure a fried egg request would get a man booted out.

I barely remember Tatos. I rememebr Frito's Chili. It was good. I still make Frito's chili pies.
When i was a kid I passed by a hamburger joint on the way home from school that made Frito's chili pies. I would save my lunch money and stop on the way home and eat one.
Side note- Wasn't Wes Wise a weather man before he became mayor?

Back in the 1970s and part of the 80s, there was a radio program called The Music Of Our Lives.
It must have been a syndicated package because I've heard it both in Dallas and Denver.
I don't remember which sttation it came on.
It was great stuff- Big Band music and pop music of the 1940s and 1950s. No rock and roll.
There was a lot of Kay Starr, The Ink Spots, Frankie Laine, Patti Pa

How many of you frequented the Big D Jamboree at the old Sportatorium on Saturday nights?
I was these 4 or 5 times back in the late '50s.
It was a pretty rough place. I saw fights break out a couple of times with beer bottles broke over heads.
If you were a Country fan they had some good big name shows. I saw Johnny Cash and Ernest Tubb.

I've smoked ever since I was 14- mostly unfiltered Camels. I'm 68 now.
The high cost made me start rolling my own about 2 years ago. It's a pain, but it costs me about $17 a week to smoke compared to $90 buying cigarettes.

Camfield had an advertising agency in the Ridglea Bank Building in Fort Worth back in the '70s.
I had an office there too. I never talked to him but I passed him in the hall all the time. He always smiled and nodded.

The court must not have agreed that it was that bad.
He was sentenced to 5 years and served only 2 1/2 years.
