1025 Elm / T&P Building

Here's an interesting story about history of 1025 Elm. It has been through several renovations, and from the street the history is not very clear. The structure is now being converted to a hotel.

Quest for history of an old Dallas building turns up a good tale of multiple makeovers

Is it going to remain an ugly metal and glass box, like it is today?

They SURE did muddle that one over, that is if there is even any of the original building under that metal and glass.

500 S. Ervay is another one. Such a dreadful job of butchering a lovely old building.

There's nothing left under the current facade; they completely stripped it down to the beams when they added the 1950s panels (similar to the Praetorian). On the west side they covered up the original windows with metal paneling... so those remain and may be restored.

Luckily 500 S. Ervay still has the original stone/brick under the later covering.
