mecca resturant

an article in the paper today said the mecca will close in august and move to skillman and live oak after 74 years on harry hines.

I read on one of my FB discussion pages that the Mecca will occupy the old Volk's Building at Skillman/Live Oak. Seems like a lollapalooza of a socio-geographic shift, if you ask me. Hope they can survive.

While I would welcome the Mecca to the Lakewood area I believe the Volk's location would not be a good location. The Mecca needs lots of parking space and the Volks location is somewhat limited. A location at the Medallion Shopping center would be better. They have vacant property and lots of new apartments nearby.

i have heard there was a mecca downtown. when i moved here in 1955 the mecca stood on the northeast corner of mocking bird and denton drive then moved to the harry hines location

the mecca was great in its day but the mamma's daufgters up the street was kicking thier butt. in thier heyday of the sixties i think they had the best home cooking in dallas
