Funding needed for Hall of State interpretation

Every year, more than 150,000 people visit the Hall of State. And every year –nearly the same number leave the building having seen the murals and sculptures, having had the opportunity to learn more about the Texas history the artwork depicts. Unfortunately those history enthusiasts who do not come to the building do not have access to this information. We'd like to change that.

We've a central moveable information kiosk within the Hall of State that each visitor has access to, but this information is not available online, yet. We would like to make a tour of the building and the large interactive database that is on the kiosk available to all our web visitors as well. The programming will be available in Spanish as well as English and accessible by teachers, students, and all our internet visitors.

For example, in the Great Hall, a visitor could open an interactive screen which would identify the individuals and events depicted in each of the murals. The program would have additional information about the artist and would provide interpretation of the many symbolic elements found throughout the hall.

This entire internet project would cost about $30,000. We would very much like to make this happen, because we are certain it would make visiting Dallashistory.org a much more enjoyable and educational experience. Please contact Jack Bunning, Executive Director -ext. 102
